Rebuilding

It’s been months since the tragedy that struck the Philippines before Christmas of last year. Although it was a really sad thing, the bright side of it all is that, people have become united in the cause of helping the victims. Habitat for Humanity patrons, volunteers and supporters have continued to help build houses in the Philippines, for TS Sendong or TS Washi survivors in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City, who are still in need of homes. They are the families who have not yet been relocated since last year’s tragedy. Aside from Habitat for Humanity, there are also other organizations that help build houses too. They may be using simple materials, and not insulated concrete forms, still, I think the materials they use are energy-sufficient. There were also wooden houses, apart from the houses made of concrete. And recipients just love the fact that they have a home, after not having any for the last couple of months.

Word has it that even organizations from the UAE have also signified to help build homes for the survivors and they are actually going to use insulating concrete forms on the houses they will build. My friends in the Philippines still have not given me enough updates though. Anyhow, it’s a good news that’s worth rejoicing.
